My name is Matt Spelker and I am honored to be running the NYC Marathon on behalf of the Katie McBride Foundation. I am from Madison, New Jersey and attended The University of Richmond with Katie’s brother, Pat McBride. At Richmond, Pat and I became fraternity brothers and like many of our close friends and brothers, I have been attending Katie’s Runs since 2013.
I was never a strong runner growing up but I have always tried to challenge myself. I completed my first half marathon last year and decided to try to finish this marathon and complete a goal I never thought I’d be in a position to reach. I have been training very hard for this race in Manhattan, DC, NJ, California and even Greece but I need some support from you if I’m going to reach my goal! Any donation, big or small, helps The Katie McBride Foundation honor Katie’s legacy and the legacy of all children with leukemia by assisting their families with financial aid. My run is dedicated to the McBride Family and her memory.
