My name is Lisa Olsen and I am excited to be running this year’s New York City Marathon to benefit The Katie McBride Foundation. I will be running to honor Katie’s memory, the memory of my cousin, Meghan Lacey and all victims of childhood leukemia. It is my hope that I can raise at least $5,000 to contribute to the foundation to aid in its mission to assist families in financial need, provide awareness of the Ronald McDonald House of Long Island, and help support other local worthy causes.
The McBrides are an indescribably amazing family and we (my family and I) have had the absolute pleasure of being connected with them since 2002. I am in awe of their kindness, generosity and constant willingness to go out of their way for others. I am committed to supporting the Katie McBride Foundation and am asking for your support in increasing awareness of all the good that they do in Katie’s name.
The last NYC marathon I ran was 18 years ago, in 2001. Since then family life has taken away the hours I used to use to train, but am hoping that with the support of my family and friends I can make it through the 26.2 miles again.
