During its Annual Golf Outing, the Heather Pendergast Fund made a surprise announcement — they will be donating $5,000 in Katie's name to the Ronald McDonald House that will be used to help fund the new Katie McBride Fitness Center. Both the McBrides and the Pendergasts shared their toughest moments at the Ronald McDonald House and have supported one another's charitable efforts over the past few years.
The Katie McBride Foundation would like to thank Tom and Penny Pendergast for their generosity and helping to keep Katie's memory alive.
The Heather Pendergast Fund was established by members of the Massapequa Fire Department in the memory of Heather who lost her courageous battle with cancer in 2008. Heather's Fund assists the children of Volunteer Firefighters/EMS on Long Island who become stricken with a life threatening illness.
